Saona Island or Isla Saona is a government protected nature reserve located off the south east cost of the Dominican Republic in the country’s National Park of the East. The island is 22 kilometers long and mostly uninhabited except for one small village called Mano Juan with a population of 300 people.
Saona island is the most popular tourist destination in the Dominican Republic for organized tours with excursions from all parts of the island arriving in Saona daily. Isla Saona is very popular with European tourists because it is the setting for well known Bounty chocolate bar adverts.
