One of the highlights on a Saona Island excursion is a stop at the Piscina Natural (or natural pool in English). This is a shallow area of sand banks located near Isla Saona and every tour makes a stop at this natural swimming pool to allow tourists to have the unusual experience of being in shallow, crystal clear water far from shore. Enjoy some drinks while standing in the natural pool or take a dip in nature’s swimming spot.
There are many starfish here as they love the shallow sandy banks. The guides will often encourage you to pose for photos with the starfish. Please respect nature and the 10 second rule! ie. don’t keep the starfish out of the water for more than 10 seconds at a time and always remember to put them back in the water the right side up!
